A student took 2 years to paint 6000 paintings in order to create this 5 minute film. Just gorgeous, and knowing the work that went into it, phew, I wouldn’t be able to stay focused for that lo, where’d my pen go? I just had it here a minute ago…. hmm.. what was I saying?

I came upon this video talking about some strange photo requests. Not only does it look really cool, it squeezed some chuckles out of me too!

This vid was created by Laurie Hill and apparently won the Getty Images and Short & Sweet short film challenge.

  5. What you can get for $500 and some skill and determination

Escape from City 17 based off of the game Half Life, aside from a bit of questionable acting, is pretty damn good.

The Escape From City 17 short film series is an adaptation based on the Half Life computer game saga by Valve Corporation. Originally envisioned as a project to test out numerous post production techniques, as well as a spec commercial, it ballooned into a multi part series. Filmed guerilla style with no money, no time, no crew, no script, the first two episodes were made from beginning to end on a budget of $500.

On a $500 budget, this is amazing. The CG and compositing is well done and the atmosphere, lighting and camerawork do really well to portray this destroyed world as primitive and hopeless as the two intro characters try to escape. The fight choreography is really good, too.

I hope you guys enjoyed this installment, keep an eye out for more as I will be too.
